Retirement

Is a well, a well,
When it runs out of water,
Or is it a hole?

Once they grow too dull,
Can scissors still be scissors?
Who gets to decide?

Is the intention
Enough to keep a title
When function is lost?

A Creator makes.
A thing then serves its purpose.
A man remembers.

  1. Really great poem, sometimes I think that it’s sad how we don’t value things that are no longer useful to us. I see that a lot especially these days.

    1. Thank you! I do, too. I think valuing older things / people provides a lot of the glue for a society (shared memories, generational connectedness, shared wisdom, etc.)
