Trouble

When heavy rains fall,
Connections become broken,
Homes become islands,

Some people wither
When cut off from their lifelines,
But others build boats.

    1. Thank you! I tend to include a lot of moralizing in my writing. lol. I’m not sure what that says about me. This time at least, I didn’t have anything specific in mind while writing this. After the fact, I think the whole planet has experienced some feelings of trouble-induced isolation over the last few years. Working for connection can look like different things, for different people, but it struck me that (within the poem’s metaphor) building boats benefits both the boat builder and others as well.

      1. I like stories with morals so keep writing them. I think it’s lovely that the boat helps others too because often when we better ourselves it helps those around us too.
