Despite her immense fatigue, Candace ignores the erupting sounds of shouting from farther inside her house, and shuffles her aging feet quickly toward the front door, to answer the doorbell and the insistent pounding that accompanies it. As she had expected, a sympathetic police officer greets her and informs her that for the second time in two weeks, her husband Mark has called in his own kidnapping.

“Ma’am, with the acceleration of your husband’s condition, and out of concern for both your safety and his, you need to consider options, other than yourself, for his care.”
