The Book of Jonah is a book tells one of the most famous stories in all of Scripture. It is traditionally dated to the 700s BC and its authorship is anonymous – though one must believe that Jonah is its original author (orally) if one is to believe in its historicity. Though there are doubts about Jonah’s actual authorship of the book, he is considered to be one of the “twelve minor prophets.” The tale itself concerns Jonah’s reluctance to preach repentance to Nineveh and the outcome after he finally did as God told him.
