Riker and an Away Team try to rescue humans who have landed a freighter ship’s escape pod on a matriarchal planet.

The Enterprise visits the planet where Data was created and discovers another android like him, named Lore. Once Lore is assembled and turned on, they learn that Data’s brother is dissimilar to him in important ways.

With an important meet and greet with the Jaradan race on the horizon, Picard, Data, and Dr. Crusher are trapped inside the Enterprise’s holodeck after it malfunctions.

Troi’s long forgotten betrothal from her childhood rears its head as the Enterprise reaches the Planet Haven. She is obliged to go through with the wedding.
