An Idyll of 1745 by the English artist John Everett Millais is a Victorian era work that depicts a pastoral scene wherein a British drummer boy plays a fife for three Scottish girls.

However, the title gives something away. In 1745, the British and Scottish were fighting the Jacobite Rebellion.
