The Feast Day of St. Clare of Assisi (11 August) celebrates the 11th and 12th century Italian saint who founded the Order of Poor Ladies (later renamed the Order of Poor Clares.) She is known for several miracles, the most famous being the miracle during the Saracen invasion in 1240, where she held the Blessed Sacrament and caused the attackers to flee in fear. Other miracles include multiplying loaves of bread for her sisters and healing the sick through her prayers.

She is a patron saint of several things, including eye disease, goldsmiths, laundry, television, bicycle messengers, good weather, needleworkers, remote viewing, extrasensory perception, fertility, Santa Clara, California, Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico, and Obando, Bulacan.

The Feast Day of St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (9 August) celebrates a late 19th and early 20th century Jewish convert to Catholicism who became a Discalced Carmelite nun. She is known for her scholarly writing in the areas of metaphysics, phenomenology, philosophy of mind and epistemology. She was arrested by the Gestapo in 1942 and died in a Birkenau gas chamber that same year.

She is a patron saint of Europe, the loss of parents, and converted Jews.

The Feast Day of St. Clement of Ohrid (27 July) honors the 9th and 10th century medieval Bulgarian saint, who was one of the most prominent disciples of Cyril and Methodius, and he is often associated with the creation of the Glagolitic and Cyrillic scripts. He is regarded as the first Bishop of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and and as one of the Seven Apostles of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church.

The Feast Day of St. Ambrose (7 December), a 4th century theologian and statesman remembered as an outspoken opponent of both the heresy of Arianism, as well as of paganism. He is remembered for his writings as well as for his role in the conversion of Augustine of Hippo.

Ambrose is officially a “Doctor of the Church,” and is considered by Western Christians to be one of the four great Latin Church Fathers – along with Gregory the Great, Augustine, and Jerome.
