Dusty Poetry #79

Just give me* some time and I'll get you some copy! (*For the record, this is not actually a monkey; it's a chimpanzee. It's the best we could do, under the circumstances.)

Hi, welcome to the DustyWrites subsection of DustyReviews.com. If you like what you read and you would like to read more, the rest of my creative offerings are HERE.

Retreat

I retreat into a quiet place
Where I can be in peace,
Though people all around me race
The noise they make does cease.

I do not hear a sound
Though you shout at me my name.
I don’t even look around
And my emotions stay the same.

I do not tread upon the height
And I do not traverse the low,
I remain inside my tepid site
And it is all I wish to know.

I will never feel the thrill of hope,
Nor will I taste a great defeat,
Wrapped in quiet I will cope,
Within the peace of my retreat.
