A Lighted Path
In my youth and poverty,
you freely gave your smile to me,
a lamplight so that I could see
the path to go where I must be.
Rich in love and old in years,
the lesson of your light still cheers,
so as my journey’s end now nears,
I can proceed with joy, not fears.
